International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers – 29 May 2011

By resolution 57/129 of 11 December 2002, the General Assembly designated 29 May as the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, to pay tribute to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve in United Nations peacekeeping operations for their high level of professionalism, dedication and courage, and to honour the memory of those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace.

International Peacekeepers & Peacemakers Memorial Service, scheduled for 29 May 2011 in Anzac Square, Brisbane. 10am – 11.30am all welcome.
In 2002, the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 57/129 establishing International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers to pay tribute to all men and women who have served and continue to serve in United Nations peacekeeping operations, for their high level of professionalism, dedication and courage, and to honour the memory of those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace. It is held each year on May 29.
