SI South Perth – Garage Sale

Our annual garage sale, held on Sunday 7 November 2010, was a resounding success. During the previous 12 months, Mary Smith, our fundraising coordinator, accumulated a huge collection of second hand goods in her garage. The Saturday afternoon before the sale, members and their partners set up the trestles and loaded them with the goods for sale. On Sunday morning, the gates opened at 6:45 am and the first customers arrived soon afterwards. We sold plants, books, clothes, electrical goods, furniture, toys, cakes, jam, preserves, jewellery, and assorted bric-a-brac. Extras included a raffle, with the chance to win one of three hampers, and a sausage sizzle.

Many thanks to everyone who worked very hard to achieve a successful fundraising event. We raised more than $3,500 for our club projects. Special thanks to Silvio and Christine for letting us use their premises and for their wonderful support on the day, to Mary for coordinating the whole affair, and to Bronwen for being such a persuasive saleswoman.
