Soroptimist International of Canning District was chartered in 1962, the third Club to be chartered in WA. The Club has 21 members as at July 2005.

Current key club projects include:

  • Garden cleanup of the National Trust property, East Perth Cemetaries. These pioneer cemetaries date from the early days of the Swan River Colony (now Perth) with over 10,000 buried at this site.
  • Donation of cash prize for South West Metropolitan College's NOW course (New Opportunities for Women). Offers education and training to help women back into the workforce or think about a new business or career.

Our dinner meetings are held on the second Monday of every month at The Metro Hotel. Members and their guests enjoy a 2 course dinner at a a cost of $20, conversation and a guest speaker. Guest speakers are chosen to reflect a mix of topics such as health, education, community concern and general interest.

The business meeting is held on the last Monday of the month at "The Homestead" - 5 Mackie St, Victoria Park. The club meets to prioritise agenda items and make recommendations to the club.
